-Something Old, Something New…..

In this “disposable era” in which we live, there is a tendency to replace broken appliances rather than repair them, to purchase new clothing rather than mend a small tear, or even to demolish and replace an entire building rather than update and remodel a sound, existing structure.  Here at Ski Cooper, we are trying our best to fend off the “throw-away” mentality by updating the functionality of our existing buildings, which by the way, have been very well maintained through the years.

This year’s biggest project is the renovation of Cooper’s Rental Shop, which includes raising the floor level in two areas which had previously been sunken and used for ski and boot storage and distribution.  By raising these areas, the entire shop will be on one level, allowing for better flow and the addition of new racking equipment and a new computerized rental system.  Additionally we will be moving the Snowflakes Retail Store from the Base Lodge into a new, highly visible spot in the Rental Shop facility, making it more convenient for our guests to visit Cheryl’s shop and take advantage of her many and varied offerings!  We are hoping that the new Rental Facility layout will enhance the flow in the rental process and allow our skiers to spend more time on the snow and less time waiting in line for equipment!

In the Base Lodge, we are relocating the T-Bar Lounge to the space formerly occupied by the Retail Shop and we are using the old Lounge space for additional seating, complete with public Wifi (assuming our new T-1 lines are available for internal networking in time, which we believe they will).  The Cafeteria kitchen and servery area are also being reconfigured (using existing appliances and equipment), allowing for better efficiency for both the guest and kitchen staff, and a brighter look for the area.

We are also making a few changes to the traffic flow patterns in the Children’s Center.  There will be a new sign-in desk, complete with point-of-sale capabilities for all Children’s Ski School Programs and Daycare.  Combined with the ability to provide rental equipment for these programs in the Children’s Center, this creates a one-stop-shop for kids who are going to be involved in any of our Ski School or Daycare Programs.

We hope these changes will add a little to the already wonderful experience of a day at Colorado’s Best Kept Secret…….and by far, the Best Deal In Skiing!!

Snowing today…..71 days ‘til opening day!  Enjoy the photos below of our progress on these projects.
