OPENING EARLY! (or, Appreciating “Murphy’s Law”)

Well……since we set a “reasonable” opening date of December 14th for this Ski Season, good ol’ Murphy comes along to spoil that idea!!  In this case, Murphy is a popular guy at Ski Cooper, and we are looking forward to the “spoils” he brings.  We have been hit with numerous snowstorms in the last few weeks allowing us to open for skiing beginning this Saturday, November 30.  We will be open for the next two weekends (closed midweek) and opening on a 7-day basis beginning Saturday, December 14th…….our originally scheduled opening day.

November 27, 2013 – Leadville, Colorado:   The recent snow fall has been blessing for Ski Cooper and as a result, we are pleased to announce that the area will open for skiing ahead of our scheduled opening date this season. All runs, chair lifts and Colorado’s longest Magic Carpet® surface lift will be open for the weekends of Saturday and Sunday November 30th and December 1st & Saturday and Sunday December 7th and 8th.  We will open 7 days a week for the season starting Saturday December 14th.

Pick up your Season Pass or XP Pass at the Guest Services Desk on the first level of the Base Lodge or get your ticket at the window!  XP passes will be available (online only) until our originally scheduled opening date of December 14th.  Go to to purchase.

We are in the final stages of a major remodel of the Lodge and Rental Shop, but that won’t affect the great skiing one bit!  The Lodge will be open for you to get a quick bite to eat or use the restrooms or lockers.  Come check out the progress and warm up with a cup of hot cocoa. We’ll have muffins available for breakfast and the grill will be set up on the deck for lunch, serving burgers, brats, and dogs. Cooper’s Rental Shop will be closed until its Grand Opening on December 14th, however we will offer a limited stock of rentals in the Children’s Center prior to that.  Our Ski School will offer private lessons for the first two weekends and will then offer the full slate of products, including some new surprises once we open on December 14th“ We know our guests are ready to ski and we are very excited to offer them the opportunity to have a great Thanksgiving Day weekend with an early opening this season.” said Ski Cooper President/GM Dan Torsell.
